I really do appreciate your feedback. Since declaring my candidacy for Mayor of Tulsa, the question of “Why do you want to be Mayor of Tulsa?” has come up numerous times and with increasing frequency. Thus, I feel that the question deserves an answer in a printed form that voters can constantly revisit from time to time. And so without any further delay here are the reasons I am running for Mayor of Tulsa.
Reasons I Feel “CAlled” To Run For Mayor:
1) Tulsa’s roads are crumbling.
2) Tulsa’s police officers and fire fighters are being furloughed.
3) Tulsa is financially going bankrupt.
4) Tulsa has just finished building a brand new arena (the BOK Center) that is causing the city to lose money on this investment, and the new “wow” factor of the arena has yet to even wear off yet.
5) Many of Tulsa’s City Council members seem excited about the prospect of raising our local taxes yet again to build a “light-rail” train that very few Tulsans will even use.
6) 30,000 illegal immigrants live in Tulsa.
7) No truly conservative Republican candidate (other than myself) is even willing to run against Mayor Taylor.
9) Tulsa is conservative our Mayor is Liberal.
10) Tulsa is a great city, but it is headed in the wrong direction quickly.
11) I feel that God is calling me to run for Mayor (and I do not write that lightly).
Reasons that I do not want to run for Mayor:
1) I cannot stand most politicians other than (Ken Yazel, Sally Bell, Gary Jones, Tom Coburn, Randy Brogdon, and a handful of other Republicans).
2) Within the political world almost no one ever debates ideas they just personally attack each other’s character.
3) I feel as though talking to most politicians and many lawyers is about as fulfilling as talking to a wall.
4) My wife and my family have already had to endure a great deal of suffering because of the bitter attacks from opposition.
5) I have no desire to be a career politician.
